Phases:
There will be a number of phases to this project. You will receive additional information as we begin each phase of this project. You should use this as your Check List.
Phase One~
In the first phase, you will focus on learning more about yourself and how you learn. You will take surveys and make lists; you will do a little soul-searching and some self-reflection. Then you will determine a topic.
Student will complete "Brainstorming a Meaningful Need" and will brainstorm/eunmerate a list of potential topics. Students will discuss, in class, novels/articles/view films/complete gallery walks to gain insight into their learning and ideas about their communities (school/home/culture/state/country). _________ Check List Item #1
(see worksheets below)
Phase Two~
In the second phase, you will begin to research your topic, start the inquiry process, and begin to plan. You will also set goals.
Student will review the first 17 slides in the Indiana University presentation (see "Where do I begin?" button) and will submit your topic ideas on an index card for approval. ___________ Check List Item #2
(see button below)
Phase Three~
In the third phase, you will set your plan in motion and create or build or learn what you need to. You will build a blog or a website at this time as well (which you will maintain throughout the entire process).
If students are working together, you need to complete a group contract at this time. Additionally, you need to sign your student/parent contract/letter.
Student must complete a self reflection of your progress thus far and your first web page or blog entry.
Student projects will begin at this phase and we will contact mentors, plan (see Student Planning Forms), and organize your project (this might be awareness, research, or action oriented). __________ Check List Items #3
(see forms below)
Phase Four~
In the second to last phase, you will create an exhibit which you will present and write your research paper. Your exhibit should include your blog/website, paper, and any additional artifacts or realia (brochures, pictures, etc.). There must be a visual aid, evidence of research, and you will present this at an Innovation Station Conference.
Student will write your research paper, complete your SL project (with blog/website documentation), complete self reflection form (select ten questions and respond), complete your presentation. __________ Check List Items #4
(see forms below and note contract)
Phase Five~
In the last phase, you will reflect and assess your work, the process, and your presentation/exhibit.
Student will complete reflection form and present findings to community. _________ Check List Items #5
